DIPLOMA IN EDUCATION
(DED)

Introduction

Diploma in Education is a two year programme offered at the SMMUCo Mwika Campus training qualified diploma teachers for secondary schools in Tanzania. The programme aims at equipping teacher trainees with pedagogical skills. To enable them to teach Christian education and two subjects (Kiswahili, English Geography, and History) based on.

Entry Qualification

Category A: Direct Entry

  1. Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (CSEE) with three credits in the teaching subjects (English, Kiswahili, Geography, History and Christian Education/Bible Knowledge).
    AND
  2. Advanced Level Certificate of Secondary Education Examination (ACSEE) with one principal and one subsidiary in the teaching subjects.

Category B: Equivalent Entry

  1. Diploma (other than Diploma in Education) from an accredited University or college.
    OR
  2. Grade A teaching Certificate from recognized Institution with at least five passes at O’ Level and at least five years of teaching experience.
    OR
  3. Pre – primary Teaching certificate from recognized Institutions with at least five passes at O’ level and at least five years of teaching experience.
    OR
  4. Certificate in Christian Education and Evangelism or other relevant field from recognized institutions with five passes at O’ Level and at least five years’ of working experience.
